"How Does Your Garden Grow"

With silver bells, and cockle shells, And pretty maids all in a row

The first thing on our very, very, very long house list was a garden. This year it will be temporary until we figure out a more concrete plan for our back yard. So, while Oma was here last weekend we built a couple of simple garden boxes...that is until Mister got ahold of them. He took an ordinary garden box and made it self watering. Pretty amazing plan really.

We have kales, spinach, swiss chard, rosemary, chives, basil, garlic, carrots, peppers, jalapenos, and even some strawberries and blueberries. Charlotte helped plant (wearing princess gloves) and point out worms. We couldn't talk her into holding one. Grace ate dirt. What? It was organic.

And then after all that hard work our new suburban lifestyle did not disappoint....the ice cream truck made an appearance. I think it's the same make, model, flavors, and driver as the one my neighborhood had in 1988. Some things are better left unchanged.

Fixer Upper

A lot of this going on lately.
So far home ownership has gone something like this: refrigerator doesn't work, garage is used for storage of everything except the car, ants, smelly basement room, more ants, and wires scavenger hunts that lead to not treasure, but instead a cut wire.

But you know what? It's been pretty fantastic. Except for the ants. Those we could do without.

Wow! What a whirlwind week we've had! And what an amazing way to end Easter celebration.

Our rooms are still filled with boxes, our the garage is still housing an array of things none of which is a car, and our dining room table is a placeholder for tools, lightbulbs and mail. But today is Easter so those things can wait.

Waking up early, ahem 6:00, we found that the Easter Bunny had indeed visited us. Eggs were hidden around the house, stuffed in shoes, on top of mantles, and hanging from trees. On the kitchen table (amongst the chaos) he left 2 Easter baskets for the girls chalk full of goods.

The weather was absolutely beautiful so we took full advantage and spent the day outside. Including our debut dinner on the patio. I've said it before: it's all about the little things.

Lots of smiles, good food, good company and a day worth celebrating.

We're feels good.

Looking forward to all the memories these floors, walls, rooms and hallways will hold for our little family.

Now, back to unpacking.
