We moved a new sideboard in. (Thanks Oma)
It holds more records. Naturally this means more dancing.

Worst Birthday Ever

One week after a celebration for the youngest Haigh, we set out to celebrate the Mr's birthday. Unfortunately it was a bit miserable.

It started Friday when Grace came home with a fever. It took over our house going from Grace, to Charlotte, to Troy, then myself by Monday. We did multiple loads of laundry on the "sanitize" setting, and spent all weekend on the couch.

I still managed to get Troy's requested ice cream cake, but I'm not sure anyone even cut into it until the following weekend.

Worst birthday ever. Sorry Mr. Haigh. We'll make it up to you.

Camera was tucked away this weekend so we could recoup.

Cause for a Celebration

A few good friends, lots of food, and of course cake.

Nothing fancy. A small celebration over brunch. We opened gifts, ate some cake, and enjoyed the day.

Happy Birthday sweet Grace. Another first in the books.

Letter to Grace: 1 Year

One year ago I anxiously awaited your arrival. Not knowing if you were a girl or boy, not knowing you would be full of smiles, not knowing how much your sister would adore you or how perfectly you would fit into our family. I don't say that lightly: perfect. It's a strong word.

I look at you and see an incredible person in front of me. I see a girl who can change the mood of a room with one smile, someone with a beautiful soul capable or remarkable things. I don't know what this life has in store for you. I don't know what struggles you'll come up against. And I can guarantee I won't be able to fix all of life's problems....nor would I want to. I truly believe that overcoming these is how we learn who we are. It's how we test ourselves. Instead, what I will do is stand by you. We will be by your side. All three of us. Always. That's what this family is. It's who we are.

One year ago you changed our lives.

One year ago I fell in love.

One year ago I learned an invaluable lesson. I learned that even with all the love in my heart, with all the people in my life and happy moments cataloged, there will always be room for more. From the moment you were born I understood that my heart has no capacity. There will always be room for love.

We love you,

Dad and Mom

Gymnastics

Jumping, tumbling, and balancing a new activity: Charlotte had her first gymnastics class this past weekend. Unfortunately the parent viewing area leaves a lot to be desired, but from the glimpses I could get as she ran back and forth across the mats she'll be enjoying this new weekend ritual.

Weekend Recap

It was a busy one. I find that more and more that's a new normal. Need to rebalance those priorities and find more time for just being...less for doing.

Hosting dinner/game night, brunch in the city, and a Sunday full of errands, but we made sure to leave a bit of time for moments like these:
