Wedding Weekend! Eeeeeek!

We left after work on Thursday evening and arrived around midnight. We were exhausted, but one look at that sky upon arrival was enough to energize me for the whole weekend. Amazing. Simply amazing. The entire sky was littered with stars. More that I can remember having seen at once. It was a site that alone can make you feel the immensity of the world. I can't explain it, but it was the perfect way to start the weekend.

And what a weekend it was!

Out of all of the people in this big beautiful world of ours these two amazing people found one another. We were honored to not only help celebrate this beautiful day, but Charlotte was also asked to be a bridesmaid along with her cousins.

The bride is my cousin. The groom is her perfect match.

The ceremony was small and private and the reception was something straight out of a fairy tale. But more than anything it was a true celebration of love and family. So much thought was put into making the day perfect for everyone. There was a bounce house, face painting, and balloon animals for the children. There was a photo booth (love!) and a characture artist for everyone to enjoy. Even a meditation tent was set up to ensure a peaceful retreat away.

This day was the a true celebration of love of all kinds. A wonderful weekend spent with this family that we are so very blessed to be a part of. Absolutely beautiful.

Congratulations to my sweet cousin and her dear family!

Just a Little Thing Called the Iowa State Fair

This year our trip to the fair was all about the rides. For the first time in all the years coming to the fair we didn't see the big bull. We didn't visit the big boar, see the butter cow or visit the petting zoo.

Instead, we added the ski lift, big slide, carousel, and kid swings to the agenda. Charlotte actually remembered the fair from last year and was thrilled to be back at the home of the big slide. In a little over 24 hours we ate more than our fair share of pork chops, corn dogs and nitro ice cream. We scoped out all of the tattoo places in the varied industry building and walked to the other end of the fair to get our lemonade at the best vendor...right outside of the swine barn.

The tractor trolly was a big hit with Grace, as was the watermelon. Charlotte was psyched that she was tall enough to go on a ride. Oma played tour guide as usual watching us soak it all in.

Good stuff.

Growing Up

She has an old soul.
She's curious. Imaginative. Sensitive.
I just love her to pieces.

Morning Snuggles

This scene is pretty common around here.

The night light is slightly lit. Eyes slowly make their way open and legs and arms stretch out just testing the air outside the covers.

Grace is always first to wake up. She'll lay there silently for a bit staring up at the ceiling. Eventually she'll call out to Charlotte ("Lala") and then crawl into bed with her.

When we find them they are snuggled in Charlotte's bed arms around one another and usually accompanied by some degree of giggling.

It's an image that slays me every time.
