Memorial Day

We were supposed to go camping this weekend but a last minute change of plans left us home with a long weekend. We used the extra time to cover off a few items on the home remodel list.

In between project we found time to celebrate the weekend and remember what it's all about including the Memorial Day parade downtown.

Weekend With Oma

A quick visit from Oma to kick off the summer!
We always keep Oma's visits a secret from the girls. On the afternoon she gets in she joins us in picking up the girls from school.
It's always such a sweet scene to watch the girls light up with instant joy. Charlotte is getting so big now that as she comes running toward Oma I find myself holding my breath that she doesn't just completely knock her over. And Grace. I always catch a glimpse of her eyes as they peek over Oma's shoulder. She buries her face into her neck and squeezes her arms around Oma as tightly as she possible can.

Lots of cuddles and smiles this weekend.

Girl Time

Us girls are on our own this week so when Charlie asked if we could paint nails I decided why not. I let her paint her own and told her we could clean up any mistakes with polish remover. I painted G's nails in the mean time.
When we finisshed the girls picked up all of the polish bottles and I went to find the polish remover.
Turns out we don't have any.
So, C wen to school the next day looking as if she had painted her nails with a paintball gun. Good stuff.

She could swing all day.
Eyes closed, toes pointed to the sky, hair blowing, and sunshine beating down.

Mother's Day

We made a trip into the city for a brunch date. We of course planned it around a side stop to a building exchange to do some remodel shopping because that's what we do.

Lunch was wonderful, and we managed to score a vintage door which will be used for our pocket door that we are working on. We also found some door hardware that we'll use on the new door.

The rest of the weekend we relaxed and hung out. I made up for a hectic week with an abundance of snuggles and we reinstated movie night. No great Mother's day around here is possible without an amazing partner. Thank you to the Mister for arranging everything. A great weekend and another reminder of why this life we live is worth every ounce we manage to squeeze out of it.

Happy Mother's Day to me and all of the wonderful, giving, strong mothers out there.
