Last Day of Kindergarden

Wow this year went fast.
I feel like we just took this picture for the first day and here we are already.
This kid crushed it.
Kindergarten brought new friends, a new school, and an introduction to homework amongst other things.
She's reading like a pro, doing double digit math and crazy excited for first grade. We couldn't have asked for a better introduction to school.

Oma's Fairy Garden

It goes without saying that fairy gardens are an amazing medium for imagination and creative play. And Oma makes the best kind. Tucked neatly under a shade tree with two mushroom toadstools and a fairy garden made in an old bath tub painted a bright yellow. Castles, twigs, fairies, it's all here. Just add magic.

Grandma's House

Grandma's house is one of our favorites.
Always plenty to do here. Julie is always happy to share her crayons, coloring books and toys. And Grandma is such a jokester that it's easy for the girls to just hang out acting silly and playing the part of comedians. Case in point below. Charlotte asked Grandma to make her "meanest face". Pretty convincing really....after which point she broke into a laugh.

Memorial Day Weekend

We had planned for months a weekend away in Ohio with great friends from college. We were so excited....until we got a call a few days ahead of leaving that the work they had been having done in their master bath had gone terribly wrong. We would later find out that the damage extended across nearly their entire main level as well as basement requiring essentially a new rebuild for both floors. They would move out temporarily while the work is done. Needless to say, they had a few things to worry about figuring out so we all thought it best to reschedule for a later date.

For a moment we thought maybe we'd just hang out at home, but the weather was far too nice, it had been about a month since we'd been back, and the farm was calling us.

So off we went.

Lots of time with Oma, visits with Grandma and very little time indoors.

Not sure there's anything better than the farm.
Oma broke out the beads on one of our trips recently. The girls both sat there making necklaces, bracelets, and decorations for hours at a time.
Oma had to run out to get more cases on a round of errands because the girls (and myself) used them all. I think at one point C had 6 different necklaces going.
Beads. Simple.

Weekend Shenanigans

These two have the weekends all figured out. They wake up early (disregard the fact that we have to drag them out of bed much later than this on school days) and head downstairs to tune into some cartoons/shows along with some snacks.

Weekends are for recharging, time with neighbors and with any luck a nap for everyone.

End of Year School Stuff

Each year our neighborhood school has a night for the kids to bring in families and show them around the classrooms and all the projects they've been working on all year. We had a great time visiting and meeting some of the other teachers. Little sister was digging the library lounge area!

They had a few activities set up along the way as well. One was a contest to see which family could construct the tallest structure out of pipe cleaners in 10 minutes. We later found out that we had won (Thanks to T's mad engineering skills!) and they announced the winner over the loud speaker for everyone to hear the next morning. C was ecstatic.
